[...He keeps himself very still.]

...I remember. Every detail.

[he nods, gaze still on Uriel's.]

Micah and I woke up at the same time. We realized what it meant, but we were still confused. I had no intention of killing him, and Micah told me the same.

...Instead, we thought that... the rules could have changed. That maybe there were more people who were awake that night. So we left the theater together.

[...He closes his eye, then opens it.]

I won't lie. ...I was suspicious of him. I thought that he might try maybe -- at the end of the night, so I wanted to keep close by.

The octopus was outside the bar. It was already in Cosmos's form. Like it was... waiting for us. Cosmos thought it was someone from home -- and I didn't know enough to dissuade him.

We followed it to a bar. I just wanted to keep an eye on them, while they were having drinks.

[at this he clenches his fist, then relaxes it.]

Once it did, we both thought it'd be a good idea to just follow it back to the aquarium. It was the Siren's Song -- that drink. That's where it attacked us. [...] The fight -- it kept the same form, and I...

I landed a killing blow on him instead. He fell into the water, the octopus had its hands around him, so I cut off its arm and pulled him out. I thought I could... I could resuscitate him, I was trying -- but... The method wouldn't come back to me.

[he just laughs at that, hollow]

His head was like that and yet, I thought I could still save him.

[....oh.

He blinks back at her, stunned. Maybe it's because of the difference here -- of the Uriel during trial, wreathed in her anger -- and now, full of something that looks like absolution. What is it about everyone, giving him so many things he doesn't deserve?

His voice in reply is hoarse, and so quiet.]

...Can't even say that it should have been me. Because if it was, then Cosmos would be here instead.

[and how terrible would that have been for Uriel and all the others?]

...Can I ask ya for a favor?

...Can you set something up for Micah? I think he's the one who deserves a grave the most, out of all of us.

[murderers and murdered, he means.]

Well -- Hunter too. Though I didn't know him very well...

[uriel's the best... also this is exceptionally funny now that week 3 is dead contacting alive week,]

...Thanks, Uri. We sure are lucky, huh? Having someone like you looking after us.
